The Chief of Operations, Kassem Farhat, has issued a formal statement concerning recent interactions with Snapchat support regarding a device ban. In his communication, he detailed the steps taken to address the issue and invoked data protection standards applicable under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Mr. Farhat reported that Snapchat had contacted him directly and that he had provided the support team with a report concerning the device ban. Furthermore, he underscored the importance of compliance with data privacy obligations by referencing the GDPR, stating, “According to GDPR, entities must respond adequately and transparently to user reports.”
He also indicated that if Snapchat’s response proves insufficient, similar to previous instances, he intends to escalate the matter. Said Mr. Farhat: “Should Snapchat respond inadequately as before, I will immediately report this conduct to the Federal Data Protection Commissioner (BfDI).”
